If it might be an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. We have no emergency room out here, so the nearest one to you is somebody else’s — and that is the right answer. At these distances, calling 911 rather than driving matters more than it does in the city.
Straight answer: we do not have a facility in Queen Creek or San Tan Valley. Not an emergency room, not a clinic.
The nearest emergency department to you belongs to somebody else, and you should use it.
So this page is not a referral to us. It is the two pieces of advice that actually help somebody out here, and they are worth more than a phone number would be.
In a dense part of the valley, driving and calling an ambulance are close to equivalent for a lot of problems. Out on the edge they are not.
Call 911 rather than driving if:
An ambulance is not simply a ride. The assessment starts in it, treatment can begin on the way, and the receiving department is told what is coming. What happens in the ambulance.
And a dispatcher decides where you go. That decision accounts for what is open, what the problem looks like and what each department can do. It is better than a preference, including a preference for us.
Give a location somebody can act on — the address, the nearest cross streets, a landmark, a mile marker. Not a description only a neighbour would follow.
Say if there is a gate and give the code. Say which entrance, and whether the drive is long or unpaved.
Put somebody outside to wave the crew in if there is anyone to spare.
And sort your phone’s emergency SOS and location sharing out once, at home, when nothing is happening. Five minutes while you are calm and have signal.
This is the decision that actually faces most people, and it has nothing to do with which company owns the building.
Which door do you need goes through it properly — emergency department, urgent care, primary care, or 911 — and it is written without assuming you will choose us.
How far is too far, in an emergency is the one written for exactly your situation, and its answer is not flattering to us.
Our facilities are in Fountain Hills, El Mirage and Gilbert. Gilbert is the nearest of the three to you and it is a clinic rather than an emergency room — Mercy Grace Pediatrics & Primary Care, appointments required, closed at the weekend. Details.
For a continuing primary care or paediatric relationship, that may be worth a conversation. For an emergency it is the wrong building, and for an emergency our emergency rooms are across the valley.
All of our locations, including the ones that are not open yet, are listed in one place so you can judge for yourself rather than taking our word for what is convenient.
Our service area is the east and west valley and all surrounding cities, and nobody is turned away for living somewhere else. But service area is not proximity, and on this page that distinction is the one that matters.
Do you have an emergency room in Queen Creek? No.
In San Tan Valley? No.
Are you opening one? Nothing is confirmed for either community, and we are not going to imply a plan we cannot date. The locations page lists what is actually coming.
So where do I go tonight? The nearest emergency department, or 911. If you do not know which is nearest, that is a reasonable thing to ask a dispatcher.
Should I drive to one of your emergency rooms? Not for an emergency. They are across the valley. Nearest door.
Is it worth registering with Mercy Grace in Gilbert? Possibly, for continuing care — ring and ask, and ring rather than text, because that number is not monitored for texts. It will not help you in an emergency.
What about cost, if I go somewhere that is not yours? The federal emergency protections are not ours and do not depend on us — they apply wherever you are seen. Your rights under the No Surprises Act.

If it might be an emergency, treat it as one and call 911.
If it might be an emergency, treat it as one. Both of our emergency rooms are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year — walk in, no appointment and no referral.

Ability to pay is not a barrier to assessment and access to care in our emergency rooms — by law. An emergency visit bills at emergency rates, which are not clinic rates, and we would rather tell you that now than have you find out afterwards.
If anything you receive after a visit is unclear, call the facility you were seen at before you pay it. They hold the record of your visit, and they would rather explain a statement than have you pay something you do not owe.
