If it might be an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Our Fountain Hills emergency room is open every hour of every day, walk-in, with no appointment and no referral. If another emergency department is closer to you, that one is the right answer — and across an area this size it often will be.
Our nearest emergency room is in Fountain Hills, open at every hour.

It covers a lot of ground, and “the nearest emergency room” is not one answer across all of it.
For some of it ours is a sensible door. For other parts of it, somebody else’s is closer — and then theirs is the right one. We are not going to pretend otherwise to keep you on the page.
If you are unsure, ring 911. A dispatcher holds the live picture of what is open and where, which no web page can, and asking is the system working as designed rather than an imposition.
There is more trail within reach of north Scottsdale than almost anywhere else in the valley, and it produces a distinct set of emergencies.
When to call 911 on a trail is the one to read before you need it — what to say, what to do while you wait, and why moving an injured person is usually the wrong instinct.
Heat is the trail hazard that catches experienced people, not just visitors. Heat exhaustion or heat stroke is the distinction that matters, because one is an emergency and at the start they feel similar. And your medicine list changes how your body handles heat — the fact nobody is told.
Rattlesnakes, scorpions and spiders each have a correct response, and each begins with not attempting to treat it yourself.
And hypothermia — a desert night drops further than people expect, and an injured person who cannot move gets cold fast even in mild weather.
A freestanding, full-scope emergency room to the Arizona standard — an emergency department that is not inside a hospital building.
On site: CT, X-ray and a full laboratory, so the imaging and blood work that answer most emergency questions happen during the visit rather than at an appointment later.
A patient who needs to be admitted is transferred to a hospital. That is how these departments work, and it is not a failure of the visit. What that involves.
Our emergency rooms treat envenomation and give antivenom, burns, lacerations and tetanus.
A clinic sits at the same address — Suite 100, (602) 671-7981 — and it is the only one in our network taking walk-ins on an urgent care basis.
Call 911 if it is severe, if the person cannot be moved safely, or if you are not confident you can get there. An ambulance is not only transport: the assessment starts in it and the receiving department is told what is coming. What happens in the ambulance.
Our service area is the east and west valley and all surrounding cities. The place name in the title of this page is search engine plumbing, not a boundary — nobody is turned away for living somewhere else.
Do I need an appointment or a referral? Neither. Walk in, at any hour.
Is yours the closest emergency room to me? Across an area this size, often not. Use the closest one to where you actually are. We would rather you got somewhere else quickly than to us slowly.
Is it a hospital? No — a freestanding emergency room. Admission means a transfer.
Is it open overnight and on holidays? Yes. Every hour of every day of the year.
Somebody is hurt on a trail and I cannot carry them. Then do not try. Call 911, mark your position as precisely as you can, and read when to call 911 on a trail.
What if I am not sure it is an emergency? Come in, or call 911. Which door do you need.
What about cost? Cost is not a barrier to being medically evaluated in our facilities.

Find your nearest emergency room →About your bill, before you worry about it
Ability to pay is not a barrier to assessment and access to care in our emergency rooms — by law. An emergency visit bills at emergency rates, which are not clinic rates, and we would rather tell you that now than have you find out afterwards.
If anything you receive after a visit is unclear, call the facility you were seen at before you pay it. They hold the record of your visit, and they would rather explain a statement than have you pay something you do not owe.
